Routine Maintenance

When maintenance breaks out of its routine

I am the Founder of Student CRM and you have just clicked on the 'Details' link in a message in Campaign Manager. Hi πŸ‘‹.

Only very occasionally do we perform 'maintenance' as opposed to 'routine maintenance'.

The difference is that whilst routine maintenance is baked into our code housekeeping routines (and you almost never see that), sometimes a bit of code just won't play ball. When this happens we give as much notice as possible that a feature will become temporarily unavailable whilst we perform maintenance and tighten the nuts and bolts. We aim to undertake maintenance at a time that is the least disruptive to users.

This notice in Campaign Manager (UPDATE: Now it will be Monday afternoon at 15:00 hard at work on it right now.)

In this case, we began to notice that users downloading data were sometimes experiencing unexplained delays in their data file finishing and becoming available. Not every user was affected by any means, however, it is still not cool. Our engineers have been looking into it and, following some additional fault logging they added in, we now have a decent idea where we need to tighten the nuts and bolts.

This weekend the 'Download (CSV)' feature will be temporarily unavailable in Campaign Manager, but will be back on Monday morning. UPDATE: Now it will be Monday afternoon at 15:00 (hard at work on it right now). I would like to thank you for your patience. If you are upset however may I ask you not to direct your ire πŸ’©πŸ’©πŸ’© at my lovely team but directly at me, please. I am big enough to take it.

Choose any channel you like: call or text me on +44 7973 521888, email me on dom@student-crm.co.uk, message me on https://www.linkedin.com/in/dominicyeadon/

But don't feel you have to, a quiet weekend would also be nice. πŸ™‚

Dom Yeadon, Founder and Managing Director.
