How to add Zuko tracking to a form

Requires user access to Web Form Builder in Student CRM and a Zuko account.

Note: You must create one Zuko snippet per form (unlike Google Analytics which is one snippet for all).
If you have multiple forms you must repeat these steps for each form.

STEP 1 - In Student CRM:

  1. Starting in Webform Builder in the platform, choose which form you want to add Zuko tracking to.

  2. Example: “8740.02: RAP - University-Enquiries-Form”


  1. Go to Step 5. Preview for that form.

  2. Click the "use web form </>" button in the preview which opens the modal.


  1. From the modal, under the "URL to open this web form in a new page" heading, click "Copy URL to clipboard".

  2. The URL is now in your clipboard. It will look similar to this:

STEP 4 - In Zuko:

  1. Log into your Zuko account and click ‘Add form’ in the top navigation bar. If you haven't yet signed up to Zuko you can do so here:


Complete it as follows:

  1. Organisation = your university name.

  2. Label = the same name as your web form in Student Database.

  3. URL = From your clipboard (highlighted below).

  4. Click ‘Save’.


You now see your Zuko tracking code in 2 parts:

Leave that tab open while you pop into Student CRM again.

STEP 7 - In Student CRM:

  1. Go to Setup (the cog icon) and Add a new tracking code.

Complete it as follows:

  1. Type = Zuko (from the dropdown).

  2. Name = Add ‘Zuko’ in front of the web form name.

  3. Script code = paste in each part from the Zuko tab, one at a time with a space between them.

  4. Click ‘Save’.

  5. You will see a message: "Web Tracking Code successfully created".


  1. Go to bus stop ‘2. Configuration’ for your web form.

  2. Scroll down and add your new Zuko tracking code and click ‘Save’.


  1. Now click the "Publish changes to live" button and your Zuko tracking code is now live.

STEP 10 - In Zuko:

  1. Click the ‘Live’ link in the top navigation bar, then select your new Zuko form from the forms filter top left. Click ‘Apply’ to see an empty chart titled ‘Live View & Completion Events’:

STEP 11:

  1. In a new browser tab - visit your web form online and do nothing.

  2. In Zuko - notice that the Zuko Live chart now shows a visit stat (It has a 10-second refresh).

  3. In that browser tab - now complete the form just like a student would.

  4. In Zuko - notice that the Zuko Live chart now shows a completion stat as well.

  5. If you visit your web form online again but this time you close the form halfway through, this triggers an abandon stat after 30 mins of inactivity. This is to give the student enough time to continue with the form.

STEP 12 - In Zuko:

  1. On the Live report for that web form, click the Cog icon and go to ‘Label Fields’ where you can now add names and drag the fields into the same order that they appear in your web form. You have now finished in Zuko.

  2. Note that you can’t do this until the web form has been submitted at least once so that Zuko can record all the fields in your form.

  3. When you first sign up to Zuko you will be on a free trial, able to track 1,000 user sessions. Once those sessions have been exhausted you can start a Zuko subscription by clicking the pink "Sign Up" button in your account.


Q. How much does Zuko cost?

A. Zuko's pricing model is based on the number of form sessions tracked per month. You can view the Zuko pricing details here.

Q. How does the subscription work?

A. The standard model is a rolling monthly subscription that can be cancelled or upgraded at any time. Super flexible.

Q. What if I run out of sessions?

A. If you run out of sessions one month your Zuko data will stop tracking, but will of course start again the next month. If you see that you are going to run out of sessions, you can also easily upgrade to more sessions in your Zuko dashboard.

Q. What is an abandoned session?

A. An abandoned session is counted after a user is inactive for 30 minutes.

Q. What is a field return?

A. A field return means that the user interacted with the field, then had to go back to it and change their input, for example prompted by an error message.

Q. How is field abandonment determined?

A. Field abandonment shows which field or button the user interacted with last before abandoning your form.
