We're always striving to make your experience even better at Student CRM, and we're excited to introduce QR codes as an upgrade from barcodes for all touchpoints. On 17 May 2023, we're automatically upgrading all your touchpoints and event programmes from traditional barcodes to QR codes, making scanning faster and more reliable. Watch the video below to see how you can easily scan both barcodes and QR Codes with the Event Day Scanner app, and how much quicker it is to scan a QR code.

Q. Can I scan QR Codes with Event Day Scanner?

A. Yes. QR Codes are fully supported by Event Day Scanner.

Q. Can I scan QR Codes with my Opticon PX-20 Scanner?

A. Yes. QR Codes are fully supported by the Opticon PX-20 Scanner software.

Q. If a Student has printed their standard barcode and brings that rather than a QR code, will it still scan in the same way as previously?

A. Yes. The basis of both the barcode and the QR code is the student's booking ID. When the code is scanned, this is what is sent to the platform. There's no change to this process and EDS will work with either type of code.

Q. Will existing barcodes automatically be converted to QR codes?

A. Yes. All existing barcodes in the CRM will change to QR Codes without any input from a user. There'll be no need to make any amendments to live Touchpoints or Booking forms. Be aware, this also applies to historic Touchpoint previews in the Students' log.

Q. Will I need to make any changes to my Touchpoints?

If you've previously set the barcode size to something other than the default, you may need to check the QR Code is square. If the QR Code is squashed like below, then it cannot be scanned:
