This is a guide designed for clients who are setting up the PX-20 for the first time. The PX-20 arrives in Bluetooth-HID mode. We want the scanner to work in Batch mode. This guide covers the steps required to get the scanner working in Batch mode.

Before you plug in your new scanner

Before you even plug that shiny new barcode scanner into your computer, you'll need to download and install the Opticon USB Driver. Follow the steps below to do that:

1. Visit https://wiki.opticonusa.com/techsupport/en/PX20
2. Under the 'Driver' section, download the 'All-In-One PC Drivers'
3. Open the ZIP file downloaded
4. Run the 'USB Drivers Installer.exe' file
5. Follow the installation instructions on screen.

After installing the USB Driver, Install and Use the Appload tool

1. Plug the PX-20 into your computer using the USB cable
2. Visit https://wiki.opticonusa.com/techsupport/en/PX20
3. Under the 'Software' section, download the 'Appload' and 'Firmware: OPN2001 Emulator Application'
4. Open the Appload ZIP file downloaded
4. Run the 'Appload 1.57 Setup.exe' file. This will install the Appload tool onto your computer
5. Open the RFM-3727x ZIP file and extract the PX20-RFM3727I file to your desktop
6. Under 'Settings' select 'Port', then the Opticon PX-20
7. Select 'File', then click 'Download Again'.
8. Open the PX20-RFM3727I file from your Desktop
9. The Appload tool will then load this file onto your connected PX-20 barcode scanner.

This should have updated the PX-20 to be in Batch Mode. Test this by scanning some barcodes, then using the OPN Companion App to read the barcodes from the scanner.

OPN PC Companion App

If you have previously used the Opticon OPN2001 barcode scanner, you will likely already have the OPN PC Companion App installed. If you have not used an Opticon scanner before, or do not have the OPN PC Companion App installed, the below guide will walk you through the installation.

1. Visit https://wiki.opticonusa.com/techsupport/en/OPN2001
2. Under the 'Software' section, download the 'OPN PC Companion Application' (or 'Macintosh OS X Companion Application' if you are using a Mac)
3. Open the ZIP file downloaded
4. Run the 'OPN200x Setup.exe' file
5. Follow the installation instructions on screen.

This will have installed the OPN PC Companion App on your computer.
