Using the hand-held barcode scanners

The Opticon PX-20 Barcode Scanner is a device used for scanning barcodes and QR Codes on both paper and screens. The scanner then stores these for you to upload to the CRM at the end of your event.

To scan a Student's event code, press the top button marked with a barcode, then aim the scanner at the code. Once scanned, the scanner will beep and a green light will flash to confirm the scan.

Troubleshooting: If a barcode is not scanning, try moving the scanner closer or further away from the barcode. If scanning from a mobile device, you may need to switch 'dark mode' off, or change the angle or brightness of the screen.

Resetting the Scanner

There may be rare occasions when the device stops scanning. If this happens, it can easily be fixed by doing a "hard reset" on the scanner.
To do this, hold both buttons for 20 seconds. After 20 seconds the scanner will emit a couple of beeps and flash of the lights. Release the buttons and wait a few seconds for the scanner to restart. After it's restarted, it will be ready to scan again.
