The Surveys app is used to create and manage online surveys.

Surveys are created inside Web Form Builder – allowing you to make use of CSS themes for branding, and drag-and-drop building – then published through the Surveys app which creates a link to an online form. Respondents click through to complete the survey, and the submissions are stored for analysis in real-time.

You can build as many surveys as you like, generating a survey link to send to your recipients. Each survey can be either anonymous or attributed (to a student).

Once you have your survey link, just add it into any communication (email, SMS, touchpoint, campaign, etc). They are bit.ly links like this:

Your Survey Card

Once your survey is published it is available instantly; you can edit it, take it offline for a while if you like - and then go back online, view and CSV download everything:

You can also search for questions, answers, and respondents.

View Submissions

Each whole set of answers when a survey form is submitted (the same student can submit several different times if they like):

View Questions & Answers

Who answered which question, and when:

View Respondents

A list of people who responded (even if they have submitted this survey many times, they only appear once in this list):

View Results

Each question analysed, top answers, and CSV downloadable.

FAQs:

Q. How do I test my survey?

A. Click on the 'View survey' button on the Survey Card. Complete the survey as many times as you like. You can then delete your responses before you send the link out.

Q. How do I invite people to my survey?

A. Decide whether you want a restricted or unrestricted audience to complete it. Restricted: create a segment and just send them the link to your survey. Use email, SMS, touchpoint, campaign, etc.

Unrestricted: why not use social media too?

Q. How do I make an attributed survey?

A. By default, the First Name, Last Name, and Email fields always show in any new SRV webform.

Q. Can I embed this survey form in my own university web page?

A. Yes, just like any web form it can be embedded or viewed directly.

Q. Is there a maximum number of surveys I can create?

A. No.

Q. Is there a maximum number of questions per survey?

A. No.

Q. Is there a maximum number of responses per survey?

A. No.

Q. How long can a survey stay open?

A. You choose, from just a minute to 10 years if you like.

Q. What if someone visits my survey when it is offline?

A. They see your offline message, configured in step 2.

Q. Can somebody complete the same survey twice?

A. Yes they can, but not with the same answers and within one hour (to prevent form spamming). There is no limit to the number of responses one person can submit over time. This is handy for a permanent satisfaction survey where you want to see changes over time from the same respondent.

Q. What is the difference between anonymous and attributed surveys?

A. Anonymous surveys do NOT collect First Name, Last Name, and Email fields in the webform, so are not linked to students in the student database. Attributed surveys, however, work like any other web form and DO collect First Name, Last Name, and Email fields and are matched with students in the student database.

Q. How do I make an anonymous survey?

A. Just hide the First Name, Last Name, and Email fields in the webform. See this article for more information.
