The Course Inspector is available in Applications and Courses, wherever you see this icon:

What does it do?

It counts the number of recruitment activities, and how they relate to applications, for every single course in your Course & Subjects app:

The Course Inspector calculates in real-time:

  • Enquiries - Enquiries (gross) from students who used RAP, PRQ, ENQ. This number is calculated by adding together all the RAP, PRQ, and ENQ activity where this course has been selected by the student. As it is highly likely that more than one student makes more than one enquiry, this number is gross (enquiries) and not net (students)"

  • Event Bookings - Bookings (gross) from students MEC, AOD, POD, EVM. This number is calculated by adding together all the MEC, AOD, POD, and EVM bookings where this course has been selected by the student. As it is highly likely that more than one student makes more than one booking, this number is gross (bookings) and not net (students)

  • Applications - Applications (gross) in APV and APS (in all statuses). This number is calculated by adding together all the Active APS (direct) and Passive APV (UCAS) applications where this course has been selected by the student. As it is highly likely that more than one student submits more than one application, this number is gross (applications) and not net (applicants)

  • Active Offers - Applications (gross) with active offers but not yet Accepted or Completed. This number is a subset of the Applications figure, but only where the applicant has not yet Accepted or Completed. As it is highly likely that more than one student submits more than one application, this number is gross (applications) and not net (applicants).

  • Accepted Offers Insurance - This Insurance number is a subset of the Active Offers figure, where the applicant has the UCAS status of CI or UI, (where you are their Insurance choice for UCAS applications).

  • Accepted Offers Firm - This Firm number is a different subset of the Active Offers figure, where the applicant has the UCAS status of CLA, CF, DCF, UCCF, UF, or Completed, (where you are their Firm choice for UCAS applications).

What is the image in the 'Your course page' section?

That is an automatic screenshot of your own website page where you provide students with detailed information about this course. As long as you have set it up when editing that Course in your Course & Subjects app, the screenshot is created, and you can merge that link into touchpoints.

If you don't yet see an image, you can click the 'edit' pencil icon and add one immediately, so you can then add the Course Info URL merge tag into all touchpoints. Read how to: https://help.student-crm.com/en/articles/2025247-how-do-i-add-a-course-info-url.

FAQs

Q. Why are the numbers gross?

A. You will have multiple enquiries, bookings, applications, etc from students. This is normal and shows the many recruitment activities that generated the applications and acceptances that you want. (Few if any students enquire only once, book only once, and then apply only once, etc.)

Q. Can I get the same numbers if I run a segment in Student Database?

A. No. You will get the net number of students. Each of these may well have multiple enquiries, bookings, applications, etc, but from the Student Database app you always get net students.

Q. How up-to-date is this info?

A. It is run in real-time. If the course has had some new enquiries in the last few minutes, just close then reopen the Inspector to see the new numbers.

Q. Is this available for every course, for every year?

A. Yes. It appears in the Courses & Subjects app, as well as in the Applications app.
